For players looking to continue their development beyond the regular season, offseason training can be a great way to sharpen skills and stay competitive. Below are some nearby training options to help take your game to the next level.

HP Programs

Dreaming of dangling past defenders and going bar-down? This summer program is designed to improve puck control and shot accuracy by increasing hand speed, quickness, and coordination. Get ready to transform your game with 10,000 touches and 6,000 shots

Daily Target: 15 - 30 minutes

Weekly Target: 75 - 150 minutes

Stickhandling Attainment Levels:

  • Silky Mitts          2,500 touches
  • Dirty Dangles    5,000 touches
  • Biscuit Beauty   10,000 touches


Shooting Attainment Levels:

  • Snipe            1,500 shots
  • Bar Down             3,000 shots
  • Light the Lamp     6,000 shots

The Process

Register in the PuckWhiz app using your unique player code. Track and document your progress in the app over the summer (parent sign-off is required for each activity entry). Watch your progress on the leaderboard and on the ice!

Summer of Sundays Hockey Skills

🏒 Keep the fun going this summer with your friends & teammates at the St. Louis Park Rec Center! This program features a mix of skill stations, small-area games, cross-ice, and half-ice play. Players will be grouped by age, experience, and skill level. Open to all returning youth (Mite, Squirt, Peewee) and girls (6U, 8U, 10U, 12U).

Hopkins Park High School STP

Hopkins Park High School STP

This 7-week summer training program is open to all girls in grades 7-12. The program is designed to give players structured ice time, skill development, and competitive reps during the off-season. Download the PDF for additional information.

Parent-Organized Options

Minnesota All-Star Hockey (MASH)

Teams are generally formed within players' 1-yr age group. Up to 10 games against nearby competition; no practices. Cost is roughly $125-$150 per skater.

  • Spring: April/May (Feb registration)
  • Fall: August/September (Jun registration)

3v3 Leagues

Each team has three skaters and a goalie on the ice at a time. Leagues run spring, summer and fall. Some leagues offer the opportunity to sign up individually or get your friends together and form a team!

Camps & Clinics

The following offer a variety of clinics, private and small group lessons, and off-ice training focusing on skating technique, speed, skills, etc. Each group has a different offerings, some being full-day for a week, some 1x a week for the summer, and some offer in-season training as well.
